Welcome to Greyhound Walks Forum

Greyhound Walks are a group of greyhound and lurcher owners and lovers who meet 3 times a month in various venues in and around Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire for an hours stroll, chatter and the sharing of doggy tales. All greyhounds and lurchers are welcome (no other breeds please). Greyhound Walks is a registered charity. Our registration number is 1127875

Don't forget the Treasure Hunt at Therfield Heath, royston on Saturday 11 September! 10am start so don't be late!

Next stall and display team event is the Romford Show on Sunday 5th September, what a busy day that's going to be!

NEW AREA !! Brandon Country Park, Sunday 5th September - 10am start.

Our usual Braintree walk on the 2nd Sunday of the month, next falls on 12 September. 10am start, and time at the end for a chat.

The next Essex Walk will be at Pishiobury Park, on Sunday 5th September, 10am start.

The next Suffolk walk will be at Rendlesham Forest - Sunday 19th September - 10am start.

The next Rickmansworth Aquadrome Walk will be at on Sunday 19th September - 10am start

We've been talking about doing walks in Hertfordshire for quite a while and not got round to it but 2009 is the year of no more dillydallying and getting going!

Lindaxx with Amber lives up in Royston which is up on the Herts/Cambs border. It has a lovely heath that we think would be a suitable venue. Also Kirsten who has Donie has moved to near Huntingdon and Royston isn't too far for her to go, so at the moment there are 3 of us going to check it out.

If you'd like to fly the flag for GW and greyhounds then we're meeting at 2pm. Linda will be posting directions etc. in the next few days :)

Do let us know if you'd like to come along too so we know to wait.

I lived in Barley for a few years so it's a sort of coming home for me :)

My other half is a bit concerned that the little mutt Jodie won't be allowed to come as he's not a hound - but she is a valued member of the family, top dog, and helped the hpuinds settle into their new home easily. Can I just clarify that she will be allowed to attend? That will be two greyhounds and a collie/terrier cross.

Our main walks are greyhounds/lurchers/sighthounds only, otherwise we'd just become a dog walk. Millie my collieX is used to being left at home on greyhound walk days and is compensated in other ways. There are a few of us in the same situation, that's why we organise GreyhoundPLUS walks twice a year :)

When I've done reccee's before I've taken my Millie along provided everyone else who's coming with a greyhound is happy with that.

How does anyone else who's coming feel, are you happy for non-greyhounds to reccee with you?

Lacey needs to improve her social skills, so it would be good for her to meet the occasional non-hound!
