OK, David and I walked roughly 10 miles today (ow!) and we've worked out a route. I'm hoping that somebody clever will be able to add a map to this thread for me but the rough details are below:
Start at Notley CP from the green where the GW walks start: 8.30am ish and head over to the memorial tree
A circuit of Notley then over the footbridge to the Booking Hall Cafe for breakfast at around 9.15-9.30am
Head off along the Flitch Way to the playing field at Little Dunmow
A circuit of the playing field at Little Dunmow then heading back to the Booking Hall Cafe for afternoon tea and back to the memorial tree at Notley CP
The stopping/drop off/pick up points we have earmarked are:
Booking Hall Cafe
Gatewoods Lane (where you cross the road and there are special gates for the horses to go over. People who have been before will know what I'm talking about! You can drive a car down there to those gates to save walking to the main road)
Dunmow Road (opposite Perkins Garage)
Bannister Green Halt Bridge
5 Star Boarding Kennels Stebbing Road
Old Felsted Station (by the gypsy camp)
Playing Field at Little Dunmow (Brook Street/St Marys Place)
We've worked it out to be around 8 miles on the way out and 7 miles on the way back. The Booking Hall Cafe know that we're coming
It took us around 3 hours to do the 10 miles today at around 20 minutes a mile. Obviously it may take a bit longer depending on the number of dogs etc. We would ask that you are aware of your dog's limitations and stop if they've had enough. We don't want any accidents. Mum the circuit of Notley will take around 40-45 minutes which is around Millie's limit, but we thought she might like to do the return leg from BHC to Notley CP if she can manage that aswell?
Please could you add your name to this thread if you would like to walk all of it/some of it/be support staff. The donation page is now up and running. If it can be shared on Facebook, Twitter and wherever else it can be shared, that would be brill. All help is much appreciated
