Very happy to say there are 70 walks around the country for the Great British Greyhound Walk this year. We have sold over 400 bandanas and nearly 400 wristbands. The team are poised to support all the organisers on 23rd and we very hopeful of a brilliant turnout.

We have a Facebook group and a Facebook Event set up (Thanks Steve, Booze and Nina) and at the moment on our Event page www.gbgw.org.uk we have 423 Facebook people saying yes they are going! BUT ... the target is 475 by Saturday, the day before the walk, so if you're a Facebook user, haven't said yes, but are going to a GBGW please help us reach our target by visiting the page. Thanks.

Hello! I'm Isla and I'm a Lurcher (whippet sized)...my dad's typing this for me. I only found GW yesterday. Brilliant! I'm going to the GBGW on Sunday too. I'm going to do it at Mistley because that's where my mum and dad got me as a rescue nearly two years ago. I'm excited...hope I might meet one or two of you there.

Hi Everyone. I hope the walk in Braintree went well this morning. Unfortunately Jomi could not make it today due to human family commitments so we went to Bedfords Country Park in Noak Hill for our usual Sunday walk instead. Luckily there was an unofficial walk starting there just as we were about to leave so we were able to tag along to that for 15 minutes and add ourselves to the numbers. (I think they are adding something official afterwards) It was nice to join in even for a short time. Bedfords is a very nice country park with a visitor centre and free parking if any one fancies a visit.

We had 83 sighthounds and 11 honoraria walking . Bedfords Park is down for our August walk

The 74 walks up and down the country managed to bring in an amazing ... 2602 sighthounds - smashing our best ever total by over 300! We were also delighted to welcome 117 'just dogs' The support from all the 74 organisers of walks, however big however small, was awesome, whatever their weather. Some faced stormy seas (Crosby - 22 hounds), some made a huge day of it (York - 98 hounds and £1400 raised for their chosen cause) and some rehomed hounds (tiny last minute walk in Leeds - 9 hounds - did a test drive and converted the family!) All were so thrilled to be a part of such a community day and eagerly awaited the news texted, tweeted and Facebooked through the day of how their fellow organisers were getting on. Photos from the various walks are on our two Facebook pages and our GBGW website - www.facebook.com/events/448532288546806/ & www.facebook.com/groups/324040254294277/?fref=ts, greatbritishgreyhoundwalk.org.uk/gbgw-2013/There's a table of the participating walks and figures - greatbritishgreyhoundwalk.org.uk/gbgw-league-table/ Just a few loose ends to tie up for GBGW 2013 before it can be put to bed until next year's preparation starts again in a couple of months time. I would like to personally thank the GW background team who worked so hard on project this year. From the beginning of the year they have given up so much of their time for this and yesterday in particular two young <cough> men crunched figures, texted and typed till their eye balls ached. So thank you Claire Reilly (who folded and sent nearly 400 bandanas plus the wristbands) Claire Migliorini who kept the website alive righted it when I made it go wrong Kris Owen who nagged on the forums Dave Peacock for early morning leaflet printing and a gargantuan effort all weekend to make the big communication machine run so smoothly plus keeping me sane Steve Kidd Tweeter, Facebooker, number cruncher extrordinaire and a great provider of moral support and common sense when my stress level rise Greyhound Walks for their continued support for this bird brained idea Janet
