Greyhound Walks are a group of greyhound, Lurcher and sighthound owners and lovers
who meet 5 times a month in various venues in and around Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and
Norfolk for an hours stroll, chatter and the sharing of doggy tales.
lurchers and sighthounds are welcome (no other breeds please unless it's a GreyhoundPLUS walk).
Full details of all our walks are on the
forum and please visit our website Greyhound Walks for more news and information about what we do.
Please read our Guidelines on the General board before posting
on this Forum
Parking & Charges - Plentiful, charges £1 per hour, pay and display. Please make sure you put enough money in for at least a couple of hours, so you are covered if the walk is longer than anticipated.
Suitable for buggys and wheelchairs? Yes
Toilet facilities - Yes along the seafront
Refreshments – Cafes along the seafront. Hopefully somewhere will be open!
Nearest dog friendly pub - None
Anything else – Please be extra careful with your dogs as we will be walking on the pavement near a road. Please also be extra considerate of other members of the public walking along the seafront. We will be highly visible and we don't want to get in the way and give cause for complaint.
Contact name and phone number of walk “leader” – Charlotte 07962 372230/Rob 07415 663949
The seafront was closed yesterday because of high waves and tide. We have checked the forecast for tomorrow and at the moment it's no gusts but cold temperatures. There are currently no warnings either.
We will meet at Chalkwell Esplanade car park as planned, but may have to make a quick change of venue if we can't walk along the seafront. We are researching this as I type!
If you are coming along it would be advisable for you and your dogs to wrap up warm.
Hello! Newbie here, to both the forums and greyhounds.
Just got our retired greyhound last week and want to come along tomorrow, but can we bring our other sighthound?
If the walk goes ahead all sight hounds are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead at all times & muzzled if they can get a bit 'gobby' in close company with other hounds. Make sure you introduce yourself to the walk leader & you'll be made very welcome.
