Thanks for a lovely walk and a great river paddle at the end. Betty is still worn out. We made the mistake of stopping for lunch at the Wicked Lady in Wheathampstead on the way home.. If you don't mind a pub thinking they are a top restaurant and charging accordingly and you like your roast beef to be half gristle and fat and the other half dry as if it was cooked yesterday and re-heated then that is the place for you. We have E mailed them to says it's our first and last visit. If you are ever in the Mundersley area of Norfolk, the Royal Hotel does a carvery for £8.95 on Sunday lunch and Wednesday evening and the quality and quantity of the food is fantastic.

I must try harder to arrange the weather to be less hot!!!!!!!! Er yes! We were doing overflow car park duty at the WHAM show from 9-2 and got frazzled! Not helped by people who were above using the overflow car park and couldn't follow simple instructions about where to park some people are very arrogant and rude!

As I get older it seems that more and more people have less and less desire to conform and just be a helpful part of society. There is really no need to "do your own thing" when attending an event, and even less need to be rude about it as well! GRR!

We went to the Wicked Lady a couple years ago for a meal and after being shown to a tiny table in the middle of the floor, waited so long for service, just gave up and walked out and haven't been back since. It appears it hasn't improved then.

The only reason we went to the Wicked Lady was because as we headed back to Watford we drove by, saw a lot of people eating in the garden area and the car park fairly full so assumed it was popular. The inside of the pub was also busy. Either we were very unlucky or their are a lot of people who don't mind paying top prices for rubbish! The service was OK it was just the roast meal. Funnily enough, when I look on Trip Advisor the customers comments are very good or very bad, no in-betweens.

The Wicked Lady has offered £40.00 compensation so we will give them another try. At their prices we might just be able to include a dessert!!
