Hello - I'm new here, was recommended the site by Pennie Clayton as our retired grey, Riley, isn't as confident around other dogs, particularly greys, as I hope he can be.
I thought I'd share this walk, as it's got everything going for it, and I hope to organise a greyhound walk here some time in the springtime.
Stoke Woods is owned and managed by Woodland Trust, a huge variety of walks and terrains. There is a big walk on one side of the wood which does a big lap, which takes us about 30-40 mins depending on pace.
Other walks inside the wood vary from 15 mins right up to an hour. It's free entry and free parking, and isn't staffed.
A proper car park and bins, but no toilets or cafe. However, this is where the location comes in super handy!
The woods are just off the M40 junction 10 where there are services. Because some of the walks back on to the service station, there are a couple of cut-throughs.
However, the service station unfortunately burnt down earlier this year and the bridge that connected the woods to the services has been temporarily closed off. There is a temporary services, but this is only accessible from the main road - still handy as it's about a 30 second drive from the woods so you can use the loos, buy a coffee etc, either on your way (to keep you going) or on your way back (as a reward )
As they rebuild the station, I hope they'll reinstate the bridge but am hoping they'll put a gate on it so that it's still safe to have hounds off leads in that part of the woods as it's secure.
One word of warning, there are 2 or 3 bins at point of entry and exit to the woods,
Walks I'm hoping to arrange will follow suit with the Greyhound Walks rules as I think these are great for ensuring everyone has a happy, stress-free and relaxing walk.
Anyway, here is a link to the walk, it's a lovely area and hope others can have many lovely walks up there as we have. Not sure how many forum users are anywhere near here so would be great to hear feedback on those who go there regularly / would be interested in an organised walk etc.

and on google maps - note you need to access the woods from the B4100
