Helping at a Greyhound Walks Stall / Event
There's no doubt that the presence of greyhounds at our stall makes all the difference when we're promoting greyhounds as pets, they're natural crowd pullers and pleasers ;D
So that everyone has a good experience we must keep to a few simple rules and remember a few things:
What we're aiming for is that people meet our greyhounds and go away thinking what fantastic dogs they are. They may be put off if there's a wet or sticky mess on the ground, or we've blocked their way, or a dog's tetchy because it's tired or stressed (it's better to have those dogs resting quietly and safely away from the public glare).
All just common sense really
We always have enormous fun at the events, whether it's raining, shining or blowing a gale. Our volunteers are a great crowd and the feeling you get from having your greyhounds so adored is exceptional!
Thank you - Janet

There's no doubt that the presence of greyhounds at our stall makes all the difference when we're promoting greyhounds as pets, they're natural crowd pullers and pleasers ;D
So that everyone has a good experience we must keep to a few simple rules and remember a few things:
- Although we have insurance each owner must take responsibility for their dog and it's actions. If your dog doesn't like crowds/people/situations it's better left at home where it's happy.
- Never leave your dog unattended, it can always be left with another member of the team if needed.
- If your dog goes on a Test Drive, you must go with it and ensure it's kept under control.
- Goes without saying, but always clear up after your dog. If we're at a venue with hard surfaces, there will always be a disinfectant spray and paper in the kit.
- If your dog gets tired, nervous, or possibly irritable please let them use the rest area, there will always be a space set aside for the dogs to be able to rest and relax uninterrupted.
- If you are in any doubt about your dogs temprement or reactions please use a muzzle, it's better to be safe than sorry.
- If you think your dog is being pulled around too much by anyone, tell them so and gently lead your dog away for some 'time out' and for you both to recover
- Please be aware of your surroundings, make sure you're not inconveniencing anyone or blocking pathways etc.
- Please let the stall organiser know you're coming to help out.
