Andy Should this read 27th April 2014 (or do I need a new calendar) ? x Well spotted Susan! Yes, it should. The Walk Coordinators are about to process the walks for next year and so far there has been some copy and pasting which requires amendments to be made, which will happen over the next few days! All will be made well as if by magic (when I get round to it!)

Well, the date might have been in question for a bit there, but it's this Sunday so bumping it up for all to see Lovely walk this one - plenty of views and varied terrain, I might even try to make it myself!

Hope you can make it Steve, we'll have to amble a little more slowly so that we don't have to wait too long for the pub to open for coffee/beer/food!
We can always go for a paddle in the river if it's sunny.

24 dogs took their owners for a cloudy, but dry, walk on Sunday including some we hadn't met before. (A few photos on the other thread).

Thanks to Susan and Terry for taking us on the walk and it's good there.
Shame the "pub" now thinks it's a classy restuarant and will not serve food outside plus it did a couple of chip portions but when poor Kris asked a few minutes after "we're finished, not doing any more".
A garden full of people who might have had a light snack but "you have to eat in the restuarant" . At least they've put proper beer on tap again, Doom Bar.

I was disappointed not to get to this walk but Vidia unfortunately came down with a limp a couple of days before. She had a very small cut in one of her pads which was causing her to limp when walking on hard surfaces, she's fine on grass though so hoping it is just bruising and she is being a typical greyhound wimp!
Shame about the pub not serving food in the garden area, strange way to run a business or are they only refusing to serve dog walkers?

I think they just went into meltdown when a lot of people turned up at the same time. The staff were polite enough, just not enough of them. Before the next walk I'll check that they a) haven't banned dogs in the garden and b) are prepared for a possible early-doors flurry of customers.
Top tip: stick to something in a bottle or from the pumps, coffee and tea come up looking very pretty with doilies and little doll-sized milk jugs but take forever.
(If all else fails, it's a flask down by the river on the grass).
Hope Vidia is getting better now. See you both soon.

No limping today so hoping Vidia is sorted now.
Maybe we should have our summer picnic at Wheathampstead, down by the river?

No limping today so hoping Vidia is sorted now. Maybe we should have our summer picnic at Wheathampstead, down by the river? Glad to read that Vidia's limp has gone, Anne. Great idea about the picnic - it would certainly make the journey for those of us to the south and west even more worthwhile. I was also sorry not to make this one but we had a Sikh festival parade here which closes the road outside my house for much of the day so it's either stay out all day or stay indoors, and since Booze stresses if he's out for too long, we just took a gentle stroll around our local park and then went back to bed - Booze never stresses about sleeping!

Re the picnic walk, that's up to Andy & Jan to decide but I have a feeling that the new calendars will have already gone to print.
My reservation is - would people be prepared to walk all the way back to the car park to fetch their chairs and lunch etc and then lug them back to the river again?
(Or I have this vision of 40 odd people struggling around the entire walk laden down with fold-up chairs, blankets, cool boxes, dog beds, sunshades, etc..............)
At least at 'Chippy', the car park is close by. Over to Andy.
